01/03/2011 08:30:46 AM PST - Applicants' plans for high school to be explained: Los Angeles Unified has set a date for the advisory vote orientation for parents, students, staff and community members interested in the future of South Region High School No. 4.

The campus, under construction in Long Beach, is set to serve students from Banning and Carson high schools in September.

It will be a sixth- through 12th-grade school. It is up for bid under the second round of the LAUSD Public School Choice process. Both the district and a Long Beach-based charter group have submitted applications to run the new campus.

The orientation event is at 6 p.m. Jan. 13 at Carnegie Middle School auditorium, 21820 Bonita St., Carson. The review session will explain the instructional plan, school model and parent engagement plan that each applicant submitted.

An overview of the advisory vote process will be conducted by the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles.
