WHAT: The Los Angeles Unified School District and members of the Instructional Technology Initiative task force will gather for the first meeting.

WHEN:   Thursday, April 9

              4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

WHO:     Task Force Chair Dr. Judy Burton, founder of Alliance College-Ready Public Schools, 

              a charter network, who is also a former Associate District Superintendent

              LA School of Global Studies Principal Christian Quintero

BACKGROUND: The new Instructional Technology Initiative task force, chaired by Dr. Burton, will meet from April to November to help develop a plan that supports technology in the classroom to improve teaching and learning.

Task force participants include teachers, administrators, parents, students, community members and a representative from the L.A. Unified School Construction Bond Citizens’ Oversight Committee. All task force members will bring insights about learning in the ever-changing world of technology and creative ideas.

The final strategic plan is expected to be completed by early 2016, with the goal of influencing learning and teaching districtwide. The recommendations will be presented to Superintendent Ramon C. Cortines and the Board of Education for final approval.
