By Anthea Raymond, Sherman Oaks Patch | http://bit.ly/Xz5oGlDecember 16, 2012 :: Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said Sunday he plans to ensure LAPD officers patrol all kindergarten, elementary and middle schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District each day. Beck said it will require additional training and may require a combination of assignments and voluntary "adoptions," reported the KNBC4 Web site. [at right] Beck said he hopes to have a plan in place by the time classes begin on Jan. 7 after winter break. Beck said he would announce further details on Monday. He also he had been talking with LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy and LAUSD police Chief Steven K. Zipperman about the logistics. "I'm going to use all 10,000 LA police officers to make sure every K-5, every middle school in LA gets visited at least once a day by an LA police officer," Beck is quoted by KNBC as saying.
