from California State PTA: SIGNATURES NEEDED FOR PARCEL TAX INITIATIVE - Only two weeks left to collect signatures to qualify the Local Control of Local Classrooms Funding Act for the November ballot

from the California State PTA …but you don’t need to be a member to help!

We know that many of you are working hard to collect the signatures needed to qualify this measure to reduce the threshold to pass a local school parcel tax from the current two-thirds vote to 55 percent.

Time is running out as all signatures must be submitted to the campaign by May 1 to qualify the initiative for the November 2010 ballot. If you are collecting signatures we hope that you'll make one final push to submit your completed petition packets to the campaign by the deadline.

If you have not yet signed the petition, please do so by going to the campaign website at www.improvedschoolfunding.com and download a petition, sign it and mail it back. State law does not allow for the collection of signatures electronically. You may download a form for a single signature or one to allow you to collect multiple signatures. Make a quick sweep of your friends, neighbors and co-workers to see if they are interested in signing this measure that will provide local communities the opportunity to generate stable, ongoing revenue for their own schools.

On behalf of the California State PTA and the Californians for Improved School Funding campaign, we would like to thank all of the PTA members that are working hard to collect the signatures needed for this important education funding measure. We truly appreciate your efforts.
