Tuesday, October 1, 2013 Reign of Error: A Talk with Diane Ravitch Diane Ravitch will be giving a talk about her new book, "Reign of Error: The Hoax of the Privatization Movement and the Danger to America's Public Schools."  Info Location: Thorne Hall, Occidental College Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Sponsor: Urban & Environmental Policy Ravitch is a research professor of education at NYU, and a prolific writer, who is internationally acclaimed for her expertise on past and present education. As Assistant Secretary of Education and Counselor to Secretary of Education Lamar Alexander from 1991 to 1993, she led the federal effort to promote the creation of voluntary state and national academic standards. Subsequently she revised her thinking on these issues and is now the most well-known critic of efforts to promote vouchers, charter schools and high stakes testing, as she discusses in her new book.
