THIS IS WHAT IT’S COME TO: Save the Atwater Elementary School Library

School library will close on September 23rd, 2011 if funds are not raised.

Our Story

With the current educational crisis in California, our local school, Atwater Elementary, has been left without the funds to cover the cost of running the library during this upcoming school year.

We need to raise $15,000, which will allow us to keep the existing librarian. If we raise an additional $30,000 the Wonder of Reading Program will match the funds and renovate our entire library.  The immediate goal, however, is to keep the library open.

All donations are tax-deductible as the Friends of Atwater Elementary booster group is a 501 (c) 3, so dig deep!

The Impact

Most of us have amazing memories of going to our school library and checking out books or doing homework.  We can't imagine not giving these students the opportunity to experience the wonderful hours that we all spent in the library as children.

Please watch our video to hear what some of the students at Atwater Elementary think about their library.

See photos and news about our school at: http://atwater-lausd-ca.schoolloop.com/

If we do not meet our goals, these students will not have the experience of being able to check out their own books at school, hear stories read by their librarian, study and research during class and afterschool.  These students will not have access to a library for the entire school year.

What We Need & What You Get
If we reach $15,000 we will be able to hire a librarian for one year.
If we reach $45,000 we will have a librarian for one year and the Wonder of Reading Program will match the funds and renovate our entire library.
Please see the perks we have set up, including handmade artwork from our students, digital thank you notes, certificates and plaques, and inclusion in our newsletter along with priority media outreach.
Thank you for reading!

All contributions are tax deductible so dig deep!
