Good Afternoon Parent Advisory Committee Members,

1). I am sending you the comments which were generated by both the PAC and the DELAC following the review of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) draft.  The comments were shared with Dr. Deasy and  yesterday, June 5th, they were also shared with the Board of Education.  I am also sending the Board Informative which accompanied  all of the comments from both committees.

2).  The following is also a timeline of events leading up to the approval of the LCAP:

Tuesday, June 10th  Board Meeting  - Superintendent Deasy will present the revised LCAP draft and the responses to the comments from the committees.

Friday,    June 13th – A Special Meeting will be held at PCSB for PAC members in order to review the revised LCAP draft and the comments.

Tuesday, June 17th  Board Meeting  - A Public Hearing regarding the revised LCAP draft will be held.

Tuesday, June 24th  Board Meeting -  The Board of Education takes action regarding the LCAP.

3).  It has come to my attention that some members of the PAC and the DELAC may have exchanged communication via email seeking consensus on items pertaining to the work of the committees.  As a result, attached you will find correspondence from the LAUSD Office of the General Counsel pertaining to this matter and the Brown Act.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Appreciatively,

Rowena Lagrosa

PAC Comments on LCAP Draft 5-1-14

DELAC Comments on LCAP Draft 5-22-14

  1. Moot my foot.

The LCAP is written in such obfuscatory manner that it would make Daedalus proud.

The bottom line is if the proposed expenses have changed from what was presented to the Board on April 8 to what will be presented on June 10.

Comparison between the presentation of April 8 to what has been offered as the upcoming presentation reveals that the line items have not changed at all. True, some of the lines have been swapped in order. But the amounts are still identical. Thus, the work of the PAC and DELAC has been moot all along. On that, I'll agree.

First it was a farce, now we are headed for drama. And we might end up with tragedy. ;-)
