Lawyers for former LAUSD Superintendent Ramon Cortines want psychiatric records of sexual harassment accuser

11/15/2012 03:30:18 PM PST  ::  Lawyers defending retired LAUSD Superintendent Ramon Cortines against allegations of sexual harassment are seeking the psychiatric records of the facilities executive who is suing the former schools chief.

Cortines' attorneys claim that Scot Graham made his mental state an issue by claiming to have received treatment for emotional distress related to his claims against the ex-Los Angeles Unified superintendent.

The July 23 lawsuit claims Cortines made unwanted sexual advances shortly after Graham was hired in July 2000 and again in 2009 at Cortines' ranch in Tulare County.

The suit was filed two months after the district announced that the Board of Education had agreed to pay Graham $200,000 and provide him with lifetime health benefits to settle his sexual harassment claims.

That settlement quickly unraveled because Graham's attorneys said he had never agreed to be publicly identified. Graham also contested Cortines' statement that the two had engaged in consensual sex.

Cortines retired from the district in April 2011.
