from Politico's Morning Education for Jan 6, 2016:
PRIVATE VS. PUBLIC:
Families eligible for vouchers under the Louisiana Scholarship
Program are more likely to choose a private school over a public school,
even when public school students outperform private school students on
standardized tests. And when it comes to public schools, voucher
families prefer schools were fewer students are eligible for free-and
reduced-price lunch, even though voucher families must have incomes
below 250 percent of the federal poverty rate. The findings are part of
new study by the Education Research Alliance for New Orleans at Tulane
University on how New Orleans families choose between private and public
schools. More here:

Meanwhile, a National Bureau of Economic Research study
finds that Louisiana's state voucher program may attract private
schools that are struggling to maintain enrollment and that
participation in the program can lower student achievement: http://bit.ly/1S2E43N.
