3/11/2013 03:24:39 PM PDT :: LOS ANGELES—Parents seeking to reform a failing Los Angeles Unified elementary school have received bids from four organizations, including the school district.
The 24th Street Elementary Parents Union said Monday that Los Angeles Unified proposes teaming up with an organization called Practitioner Center Schools to jointly run the school in the fall. It would add preschool and ask current staff to reapply for their jobs.
Two charter organizations applied to operate the school: Academia Moderna would implement an international curriculum while Crown Prep proposes an academically rigorous program.
The fourth proposal comes from a former teacher at the school, who seeks to add two hours to the school day and tutoring.
Parents presented a petition to reform the school through the "parent trigger" law. They will choose an operator next month.
