Aug 22 | 1:24 pm :: The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) experienced an increase in student attendance during its 2011-12 academic year, according to data released this week.
According to an LAUSD press release, last year on an average school day approximately 95.7 percent of the LAUSD enrolled students from K-12 attended class.
During the 2010-11 academic year the number was 95.3 percent.
“The higher attendance rates across the District are the result of a concerted effort by students, parents, teachers, and administrators to make sure kids go to class,” said John Deasy, Superintendent of the LAUSD, in a statement.
Administrators stated that they are continuing to work for a perfect record.
“The overriding goal continues to be 100% attendance,” said Deasy.
