Aug 12, 2010 - Today marks the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of Dr. Seuss's seminal piece of “I can read it myself” kiddy lit – purportedly the result of a $50 bet between Theodore Geisel aka Dr. Seuss and his publisher, Bennett Cerf, that the doctor couldn’t write a book with only a fifty word vocabulary.
He could and did!
