JAN 15: MLK’s ‘REAL’ BIRTHDAY — “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.’’

Rev. Dr. Marin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968)

Dr. King tells us that critical thinking results in the ability to inform intelligence with character, and strengthen character with intelligence.  We can ask no more from public education ...or settle for less than quality education.

MLK said "We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny." Paraphrasing himself:  “We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now.”

"I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits.”  Martin Luther King, Jr. Nobel acceptance speech.

“Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Leap of Faith: “Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase. Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.

“The moral arc of the universe bends at the elbow of justice.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
